worship: one church, many members
1 corinthians 12: 4-11
During most Regional Assemblies and Regional Gatherings, we have someone come from outside of the region to be our speaker. It is exciting to hear from, perhaps, a new person regarding our theme. I have thoroughly enjoyed the speakers. I can quote some of our recent speakers because their words were transformative for me.
Our theme this year is “We are the PSWR.” Ordinarily, we would have someone travel to us and speak. That would not make sense this year! Why would be have someone come from outside of our region to invite us to be who God has already created us to be?
Our diverse worship planning team has been hard at work for a few months to design four worship services that best seek to embody our geographically, culturally, and linguistically diverse region. During our worship services, we will have curated testimonies from diverse backgrounds. We will also participate in a special activity using different colors of yarn, so we ask that you bring yarn of any color on Friday and Saturday. Bins will be available in the narthex to collect the yarn.
You may have noticed all of the times that the word “diverse” is used here. We want to celebrate our beautiful, God-given diversity with you at our Regional Assembly this October 14-15. I hope to see you there as we celebrate who God has already created us to be. All that we have to do is embody and celebrate God’s diversity!
