"One Church, Many Members" from 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11 will set the tone for our Pacific Southwest Regional Assembly 2016. Inspired by this scripture from First Corinthians, our Regional Assembly will celebrate the unity of our region, as it is made up of thousands of unique individuals who collectively strengthen our great big family!
Regional Assembly 2016 will take place October 14-15, 2016 at First Christian Church, Fullerton, located at 109 E. Wilshire Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92832.
We have created this extensive Regional Assembly website as an environmentally responsible way to get you the information you need to plan your two days. We urge you to visit this webpage often. And be sure to subscribe to the E-News and E-Shouts. You can also “Like” the PSWR on Facebook for up-to-the-minute news & updates.
WORSHIP EXPERIENCES that reflect the diversity and unity of our region are being planned for both days. Please bring yarn of any color for an activity during worship on Friday and Saturday. Bins will be available in the narthex to collect the yarn. Click here to learn more about worship at the Assembly.
TWO OFFERINGS will be collected during worship to support Week of Compassion and Paul Turner's mission work with Global Ministries in the Congo region. Read more about The Congo Initiative on the Global Ministries website.
AN OFFERING OF CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR TEENS will also be collected, to help support Pathways of Hope, a Fullerton-based organization who provide food, transitional living, and support and prevention services to the hungry, homeless and marginalized. We are taking up a collection of supplies for their Holiday Community Program that will be given to teenagers from various schools in the community. Gifts most needed are: cologne/perfume, lotion sets, curling irons, blow dryers, purses/wallets, nail kits, nail polish, hair accessories, costume jewelry, art/drawing sets, sports equipment (soccer balls, footballs), and gift cards to Target, Wal-Mart or fast food restaurants.
Dear friends, dear community;
Regional Assembly is the opportunity for the entire Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to gather in all of its beautiful diversity and once again be a powerful reflection of God’s endless imagination. Regional Assembly is a time of huge excitement in the life of the church. This year the theme is WE ARE the PSWR. Disciples of all ages and persuasions intend to reflect God’s glory in amazing assortment.
The Assembly will feature Bible study, workshops, community meals, regional business sessions, exhibits, music in many languages, and break out discussion groups covering a wide variety of topics. As old and new friends are greeted, the Assembly will be a great time to discover what challenge and mission looks like in churches across the Region.
The year the Assembly Bible lecturer will be the Reverend Dr. Michael Kinnamon, immediate-past General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States.
Finally, the Assembly will be anchored by four lively worship services, coordinated by the Reverend Dr. Jonathon B. Hall, worship chair. The preachers for each of these four services will be four teams of ministers with varying theologies from throughout the Pacific Southwest Region. This is an Assembly not to be missed!
The host for this 2016 Assembly is First Christian Church, Fullerton and Casa de Oracion de Fullerton. The entire region is enriched by these two churches joining together to host this biennial event.
You are the church; WE ARE the PSWR! Plan now to be with YOUR church in Fullerton!
God's blessings to you,
1st Vice Moderator and Regional Assembly Chair
