The Hispanic Convención was founded in 1991 with two participating churches. Now, twenty three years later, the Convención Hispana Del Pacifico has grown to include 21 Hispanic and bilingual churches in the Pacific Southwest Region (Southern California, Southern Nevada and Hawaii), as well as churches in the Oregon and Southwest Idaho Region. 

The Convención Hispana Del Pacifico serves as a bridge between Hispanic and bilingual congregations and the broader regional church as well as a liaison between ministers and ministries seeking to affiliate with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Pacific Southwest Region.

The Convención focuses much of its energy on the development of Pastors and lay leaders who work within Hispanic and bilingual churches in the Pacific Southwest Region, providing spiritual support to both ministers and congregations. The Convención strives to promote unity and fellowship not only among Hispanic congregations, but also with Anglo congregations, Asian, African American and other ethnic groups.

Hispanic Committee on Ministry

The Hispanic Committee on Ministry ( HCOM ) provides direction, support and accountability to individuals seeking ordination within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The committee is made up of volunteer pastors who assist Hispanic candidates in the process of being commissioned or ordained.

The HCOM promotes convenental Disciples values, sharing Regional goals as well as Regional responsibilities which include attendance in Regional events and Convencion events and faithful stewardship to the Region, Convención, National Hispanic Convención and the wider General Church

The HCOM supports Convención pastors, providing help along the journey. The HCOM operates from the belief that, with a solid connection to the Convención, pastors, their families and their congregations thrive. 

Roxana Pérez serves as the Moderator of Convencion Hispana de Pacifico. Roxana coordinates quarterly meetings and oversees the overall functions of Convencion. Roxana acts as a liaison between 22 Hispanic and bilingual churches. She is a layperson at Casa de Refugio Christian Church in Covina California and is under the care of the Committee on Ministry in the Pacific Southwest Region. Roxana is pursuing her Masters in Divinity with the Pacific School of Religion. She has also served as a team member in event planning with Disciples of Christ Pacific Southwest Region and lead events with Convencion Hispana del Pacifico.
