2017 BOUNDARY TRAINING FOR CLERGY
In our desire to empower educated, innovative, and ethical lay & clergy leaders for ministry, together with our UCC colleagues we have been in a process of revising Boundary Awareness Training.
Boundary Awareness Training is required of all Commissioned and Ordained pastors. Each pastor is required to complete eight (8) hours of Boundary Awareness Training every five years.
How Does It Work?
We have replaced the one-day, eight-hour training with a modular approach. A four (4) hour module on sexual ethics will remain a core module and is required of all Ordained and Commissioned Pastors for Standing. The Sexual Ethics Course now consists of an online portion and a face-to-face session. The online portion will be a two (2) hour module that will require you to have read the book, Professional Sexual Ethics; A Holistic Ministry Approach. We will provide you with this text when you register. You will be required to submit reflection papers and participate in online dialogue based on this book. The Face-to-Face session will be a two (2) hour module that will be dialogical in nature and focus on some case study work.
*Note: You must have completed the 2-hour Sexual Ethics Course (Part A) before you will be allowed to participate in the Face-To-Face (Part B) session. Part A will ONLY be offered online.
The additional four (4) hours can be fulfilled by any combination of several new modules that have been developed to address all the areas of the Minister’s Code of Ethics. This modular training is intended to empower pastors to properly identify and address the many issues around boundaries they will engage in their calling.
Each day of Boundary Awareness Training costs $30.00. The cost covers any or all of the training provided that day Along with the online Sexual Ethics (Part A) Module.
